Preparing for Your Spray Tan

  • On the day of the tan exfoliate the full body in the shower with an exfoliating glove or face cloth. A good exfoliating scrub works best. We recommend our priming exfoliating scrubs. Make sure to concentrate on areas that are prone to dryness such as elbows, ankles and chest area. The skin should be clean and dry with NO residues. Some moisturizing soaps will leave a residue; for best results use a soap that does not contain oils/ moisturizers right before your tan. Visit our store for the best scrub products!
  • Do NOT apply lotions, make up, moisturizers, perfume, deodorant or anything else that will create a barrier for the spray solution right before your tan.
What to wear during tan
  • Dark undergarments, swimwear or you may go nude
  • The spray reside usually washes out but white may discolor overtime
  • Women may go nude or wear a thong and go topless
  • Men must wear briefs or shorts
  • Jewelry off and hair up and off shoulders
What to wear after tan
  • Loose fitting cotton clothing
  • Workout Clothes (no tights), Scrubs, Sundress or Maxi Dress are best
  • Flip Flops or loose fitted shoes
  • Socks, bras, and tights are not recommended
  • If you have leather seats you will want to lay down a towel to protect your tan and your seats!
  • Deodorant is very potent! Make sure to scrub your arm pits VERY WELL! Lack of doing so may result in green armpits (will wash away in shower)
  • Different Solutions require diffent rinse and shower times. Your technichain will tell you when it is best to rinse or shower.
Shaving, Waxing and Laser Treatments
  • It's best to shave or wax at least 24 hours before your tanning session.
  • Do not wax after your tan.
  • Do not get a pedicure after your tan.
  • Shaving the same day as your session may result in your tan turning blotchy and having a bad fade off as this does not allowenough time for your pores to clear up.
  • Any laser treatments, including but not limit, laser hair removal, lipo laser, and facials using any type of devoice should all be done 24-72 hours before getting a spray tan.
Stay Dry!!!

How to Sleep in a Spray Tan

  • Wear loose thin yoga style pants and a thin long sleeve shirt. You do not want to promote sweating.
  • Lotion your hands to prevent your tan from transferring to your palms.
  • DO NOT use your favorite white sheets. The tan may stain them.
  • Wake up and shower first thing in the morning.
  • After every shower, moisturize your skin with lotion.

Taking Care of Your Tan

  • Lotion at least twice a day using a good moisturizing lotion that is free of perfumes. For best results we offer affordable tan extending lotions with and without a hint of DHA.
  • Bar soaps, even moisturizing ones, are harsh on the skin and especially to a spray tan. Use a good liquid body wash sold in our store. We offer a body wash that even has DHA!
  • Avoid DOVE Soap. (We carry Paraben and Sulfate Free body washes that will help extend your tan by at least a week and leave skin hydrated.)
  • Avoid long hot showers and baths; this will soak off the color.
  • Whenever washing, do not use a rough wash element daily. Choose a soft washcloth or soft shower puff to wash. Gently pat your body when drying off fresh out of the shower. Harsh washing and rubbing will encourage the exfoliation.
  • Remember to wear a protective SPF sunscreen when out in the sun to avoid sunburn and peeling. We highly recommend a LOTION based SPF and avoid spray on sun screens.
  • Approximately 5-7 days after the application the tan will gradually begin to fade. Dryer areas of the body will fade more uneven. To help promote the exfoliation process at this stage and to encourage the tan to wear away more evenly, it is best to start gently exfoliating your skin with an exfoliating scrub or exfoliating mitt.

Important Tips

  • You MUST apply a spray tan approved moisturizer twice daily at the very least. Doing so slows down the natural skin exfoliation process by keeping moisture in the skin, thus, extending the life of the tan. The more moisturizer you apply the longer the tan will last.
  • Our tan extending lotions will maintain your tan even longer!
  • Rapid Tanning Solutions will differ from REGULAR solutions.
  • If the first shower is within 6 hours of the tan application, the tan will last approximately 3 to 5 days, depending on the tan maintenance. The tan will also be lighter in color.
  • If the first shower is within 8 hours of the tan application, the tan will last approximately 5 to 7 days, depending on the skin maintenance. The tan will be darker in color.
  • ~If the first shower is after 12 hours of the tan application, the tan will last approximately 7 to 10 days, depending on the maintenance. However, it is best to stay in between 6-8 hour range to prevent over processing of color and turning orange.
  • If moisturizer is applied twice daily, the maximum results will be achieved; the tan should last between 7 to 14 days. Ask about our "Post Tan" after spray to extend tan even longer.
